Tips on Finding and Creating an Art Style

posted in: News/Vlog 1

An art style is what distinguishes artists from each other. They’re like signatures — each art style is unique and developed over time.

But how do you come up with an art style? In this video I explain how I developed an art style, and how you can, too, all the while drawing an image of Stan Lee.

I apologize for the rambling. It actually takes a lot of energy to talk about a serious topic and draw at the same time. I want to do more of these in the future so hopefully down the line I’ll get better.

Here are links to the books I discuss in this video (affiliate):

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
