How to Draw ALITA (Alita: Battle Angel) Drawing Tutorial

posted in: Tutorials 0

Here’s to a brand new, awesomely kickass superheroine outside of the video game or Marvel/DC universe!

Well, not exactly brand new. ALITA has been around since 1990. First as a manga called GUNNM, or BATTLE ANGEL ALITA. Then it was made into an animated film. Then, after years of production delays, director James Cameron finally felt the technology has caught up and tasked Robert Rodriguez to helm a live-action film, titled ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL.

What did you think of the movie? Let me know in the comments! No spoilers please!

This tutorial appears in the movie/TV characters playlist. Check it out here.

I’m also adding it to the manga/anime playlist since it is based off of the manga, “Gunnm”. Check that out here as well.

Here’s a link to the reference photo I used for this tutorial.

Happy drawing,

MOVIE SYNOPSIS:

Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past.

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
