You guys have been asking for a PREDATOR tutorial ever since I did one on the Alien Xenomorph last year, so now with the new movie THE PREDATOR out in theatres, I can finally give you my take on the classic Predator from the 1987 movie.
I chose this species of Predator because it has the most iconic of the Predator elements — that distinct forehead ridge, those hair extensions, the beady eyes, and most especially that menacing mandible. This “jungle hunter” is the one that started it all.
I made this tutorial to sort of line up with the Alien Xenomorph drawing I did last year, so that if you put them side by side you’d get the two alien races facing off.
Watch my tutorial on how to draw an Alien Xenomorph here.
Happy drawing,
Ramny
CHARACTER BIO:
The Yautja, known colloquially as the Predators or Hunters, are a sentient, humanoid race that breathe an atmosphere similar to that of Earth’s, but possess a level of technological advancement far in excess of anything available to humans. The Predators stalk and kill their prey using a combination of highly advanced technology, such as active camouflage and energy weapons, combined with traditional ancient weapons, such as blades, spears and nets. The Predators often ritualistically mutilate their prey and usually claim a trophy from their kills. Capable of interstellar travel in star ships, the Predators have hunted on Earth for centuries and have also had prior contact with the Engineers. They have been known to deliberately breed Xenomorphs in order to hunt them, often as part of initiation rituals for young Predators.
