No one Man should have all that Power!
What’s going on, everyone? Today’s tutorial is for none other than the titular hero from the most current Netflix/Marvel collaboration — Carl Lucas, a.k.a. Power Man, a.k.a. LUKE CAGE!
You know what’s crazy to think about? The fact that we now have REALLY GOOD live action portrayals of Luke Cage, Cottonmouth, Misty Knight, and Shades — all B-level Marvel characters back in the my time — before the likes of A-listers like Dr. Doom, Mr. Fantastic, and Sue Storm. How is it that we are finding more success with Luke Cage than we do with the Fantastic Four? That’s absolutely unreal.
A lot of credit goes, without saying, to the team that brought Marvel to Netflix. They are doing a bang-up job of creating gritty, compelling, dramas to the world of superheroes. And that’s what I love so much about these Netflix shows — they’re less about being superheroes than they are about being human. But I guess that’s the difference between the cinemas and TV. You have more time to create more rounded, 3-dimensional characters.
Anyway, what do you guys think about Luke Cage so far? No spoilers!
Happy drawing,
Ramny
CHARACTER BIO:
Carl Lucas was born and raised on the streets of the New York district of Harlem. After wrongly imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, he became subjected to an experimental cell regeneration Super-Solder process that would give him superhuman strength and durability. Still a wanted man, he adopted the alias “Luke Cage”, donning a distinctive costume and starting a new career as a “Hero for Hire”, helping anyone who could meet his price. (Source)
