How to Draw CHUCKY (Child’s Play) Drawing Tutorial

posted in: Tutorials | 0

There’s something extra creepy about taking something innocent and turning it into something monstrous. Take a child’s doll, for example — something intended to bring joy and warmth and comfort — corrupted and twisted and turned into a sadistic serial killer… It’s just so much more menacing and unsettling!

The biggest example of this is definitely CHUCKY the doll from the CHILD’S PLAY movie franchise! Another classic movie monster from American horror cinema, this possessed doll has been around for almost 30 years and is still going pretty strong today, with the movie CULT OF CHUCKY just released earlier this month. Halloween is almost here and we will have time for one more tutorial next week. Thanks to all of you for tuning in to my horror villain tutorials, especially to the hundreds of you who are finding my channel through these Halloween-themed videos and subscribing! You guys and gals rock!

Happy drawing,

CHARACTER BIO:

On November 9, 1988, Charles Lee Ray, the notorious Lakeshore Strangler, was being chased down a street by a detective named Michael David “Mike” Norris, who proceeded to fire on Ray, critically injuring him. Bleeding heavily, Ray stumbled into a toy store and collapsed into a pile of Good Guy dolls. Knowing he would probably die for sure, Ray used voodoo to transfer his soul into one of the dolls. The store was then struck by lightning, and it burned to the ground.

The next day, a young boy named Andrew William “Andy” Barclay makes breakfast for his widowed mother Karen and tells her that he wants a Good Guy doll for his 6th birthday after watching a TV commercial for it. Unable to afford the full price, Karen buys a stolen doll (Chucky) from a homeless man, which is the same doll Charles Lee Ray had transferred earlier into.

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born!

I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
