How to Draw LEATHERFACE (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) Drawing Tutorial

posted in: Tutorials 3

When you think of classic horror movie characters there are hundreds out there, but only a few that have achieved universal popularity. There’s Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, two characters I’ve already done on this channel. The third would be LEATHERFACE from THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE movie series.

There have been a few iterations of the character since its creation in 1974. So for this tutorial, I tried my best to combine all of these looks into one iconic one. And no, I didn’t draw the chainsaw mainly because that would have added an extra 15 minutes to this already long tutorial.

Of course, it’s no coincidence that there is also a movie that’s currently in theaters, conveniently titled LEATHERFACE. Here’s a trailer.

Have you seen LEATHERFACE? Comment below and let me know what you think. And if you have seen all of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE movies, let me know which is your favorite!

Happy drawing,
Ramny

CHARACTER BIO (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, 1974):

Not much is known about the monster known as Leatherface. He comes from a small family consisting of his brothers and his grandfather. The family worked in the slaughterhouses of Texas and later on owned a roaming cafe. He and his brothers, the hitchhiker, and Chop-Top were the hunters of the family. Bringing in fresh meat for the eldest brother Drayton to cook up. The fresh meat they served was human. Leatherface or as he was known by his family Bubba, would use one tool to bring down his prey. A chainsaw.

When the fresh kill was brought home, Grandpa would get to drink blood from the victims. Leatherface would then use his skill as a butcher to skin and dress the meat. Afterward, he would take what was left and make masks from the flesh and furniture from the bones.

Not much is known about where Leatherface is today. Some say he’s dead. Some say he’s found a new family. All we know is that he has one rule and one rule only…

The Saw is Family.

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
