How to Draw PENNYWISE THE CLOWN (IT [1990] TV Mini-Series) Drawing Tutorial

posted in: Tutorials 0

I did not expect my How to Draw PENNYWISE (2017) tutorial to do so well here on the channel, but to my pleasant surprise, that’s exactly what it did!

So many of you requested a tutorial of the 1990 version of PENNYWISE THE DANCING CLOWN from Stephen King’s “IT” television mini-series. To be honest I didn’t even think to do a tutorial on this guy because I didn’t think many of my audience members were even born in 1990 let alone care about the older version.

But I underestimated how many of you are horror fans! So to kick off my series of Halloween-related drawing tutorials on this channel, I bring you IT from the 1990 TV mini-series! This drawing tutorial is specifically from the infamous poster in which PENNYWISE is peeking out from behind a white sheet of paper (Google “IT poster” and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about).

Happy drawing,
Ramny

CHARACTER BIO:

It was a mysterious evil being from an unknown realm/dimension outside the regions of space. When It came to planet Earth to feed, It’s favorite disguise was that of a colorful and wisecracking circus clown named “Pennywise”. It could also morph into any other being or thing it pleased, generally based on its target’s loved ones or friends to lure them into traps or simply appear to them as their very worst fears and nightmares.

It preferred to attract children, so it could capture and kill to devour them. It was capable of killing every kind of human but mostly preferred to prey upon innocent human children because they were easier to manipulate and scare. According to the creature, frightened flesh tastes better.

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
