Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake!

Happy Halloween, everyone! Who’s more fitting to draw this weekend than one of the all-time greatest horror film villains, JASON VOORHEES from the Friday the 13th franchise?

Did you know that the villain in the original Friday the 13th movie is not Jason, but rather it is Mrs. Voorhees, Jason’s mom? Yeah, she sent her kid to Camp Crystal Lake one summer and, due to neglect by the camp counselors, Jason (who is physically and mentally disabled) ended up drowning in the lake. Mrs. Voorhees then sought revenge by attempting to kill those responsible until she was brutally beheaded herself.

Jason appears as the killer for the first time in the sequel, Friday the 13th Part 2, wearing a white pillowcase over his deformed face. His sole motivation was to avenge the death of his mother.

Then in Friday the 13th Part III, Jason finally dons his iconic hockey mask, which he took from one of his victims. Watch that clip here:

I hope you enjoy the tutorial. Stay safe out there.

CHARACTER BIO:

Born in the small town of Camp Crystal Lake, Jason is the son of Elias and Pamela Voorhees who was afflicted with severe facial deformities with a large heart and was mentally disabled. Due to his condition his mother hide him from the rest of the community and home schooled him on the outskirts of the town.

It was in the summer of 1957 when his mother can’t find a babysitter and decided to brought him to the camp where she worked as a cook. But because of his looks, campers started bullying him and just when he is about to get away he fell off the dock and went into the lake where he was drowned. (Source)

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
