Ichigo Kurosaki!

Well, guys and gals — it’s Anime Thursday once again! As part of our Halloween theme we delve into the world of ghosts and souls and Hollows with ICHIGO KUROSAKI from the hit manga/anime Bleach!

I believe Bleach officially ended its long manga run back in August. In its fifteen years of publication it rose in popularity, ranking third in the most liked manga series poll by Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, but also fell to the bottom of the rankings in its later years. No other manga has made such a freefall drop, which makes Bleach a very fascinating case.

Watch the interesting mini documentary THE FALL OF BLEACH by SuperEyepatchWolf, which talks about how Bleach lost its popularity over time:

ICHIGO is by far the most popular character to come out of Bleach. So today, let’s learn to draw him!

Let me know how you like Bleach, and also I’d love to know your opinion on the mini documentary I posted above.

Happy drawing,

“Ichigo Kurosaki is a fictional character in the Bleach manga series and its adaptations created by Tite Kubo. The protagonist of the series, Ichigo receives Soul Reaper powers as a result of a run-in with Rukia Kuchiki, the Soul Reaper assigned to patrol his city, the fictional Karakura Town. These powers come at the cost of Rukia’s own, and as a result, Ichigo concedes to work as Rukia’s stand-in, fighting to protect people from evil spirits called Hollows and sending good spirits, wholes, to Soul Society.” (Source)

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
