A Ghoul from Tokyo

Happy Anime Thursday! In this episode I show you how to draw KANEKI KEN (…or was that Ken Kaneki?) from Tokyo Ghoul!

I’m not too familiar with Tokyo Ghoul, but I do know the synopsis and the general plot of the anime. What I like most about it is the story of what makes a person human. Kaneki struggles with being half-ghoul and half-human, and I think that inner struggle is what makes Tokyo Ghoul stand out from the rest of the anime out there.

There are many versions of Kaneki Ken from the anime, but as you can see I chose to draw the white-haired version wearing the gimp mask. I think it’s the most visually interesting out of all the designs.

Which monster-like creature should I draw next for my halloween theme? Let me know!

Happy drawing,
Ramny

ABOUT THE CHARACTER:

[Tokyo Ghoul] follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who barely survives a deadly encounter with Rize Kamishiro, his date who reveals herself as a ghoul, he is taken to the hospital in critical condition. After recovering Kaneki discovers that he underwent a surgery that transformed him into a half-ghoul. This was accomplished because some of Rize’s organs were transferred into his body, and now, like normal ghouls, he must consume human flesh to survive. The ghouls who manage the coffee shop “Anteiku” take him in and teach him to deal with his new life as a half-ghoul. Some of his daily struggles include fitting in to the ghoul society, as well as keeping his identity hidden from his human companions. (Source)

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
