Altaïr – A Story of Triumph Over Adversity

posted in: Tutorials 0

With the upcoming movie on the horizon, let’s draw the greatest master assassin of all time — ALTAÏR from Assassin’s Creed!

One of the things I like the most about Assassin’s Creed is how its mythology is intertwined with real world history. From events like the crusades and the French Revolution, to characters like Richard I or Machiavelli, the nerd in me is drawn to the possibility of conspiracies around these events and characters.

I chose to draw the character of Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad first because he is the most noble. From a tragic past of having lost everything, he still chose the most honorable path — turning his grief and loss as motivation to shape the world he lived in. Here’s a great video about Altaïr’s backstory, if you don’t know.

Happy drawing,
Ramny

FROM WIKIPEDIA:

“Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad was a Syrian-born member of the Levantine Brotherhood of Assassins and served as their Mentor from 1191 until his death in 1257. Raised to be an Assassin from birth, Altaïr became a Master Assassin at age 25, the youngest to obtain the rank by that time.”

I’m a schoolteacher who has always loved to draw. One day, one of my students said, “Can you teach me how to draw Baymax from Big Hero Six?” Thus, the channel was born! I’m a big nerd who loves comic books, action figures, and movies. I live in the USA, but I’m actually Filipino-Canadian.
